What Are The “GRIDS” and How Do They Affect My Medical Evaluation?

GRIDS stands for the medical vocational rules. They are rule that SS have put in place to determine is someone is disabled. It takes into consideration the age, work background, and education. The GRIDS classify which category of disability you are in based on age and so on. It is the same as the residual functional capacity.

Sedentary work – sitting 6 hours standing 2 lifting 10 pounds
Light work – standing up to 6 listing 10 – 20 pounds
Medium work – standing 6 hours and lifting 25-50 pounds

The old you are the easier it is to be found disabled under the GRIDS.
